CHANDLER, ON THE DAY OF HIS MARRIAGE.  By one of the guests.
Hail thou Apollo!  Master of the choir,
And Polyhymnia, tune your chearful lyre;
Erate, Goddess, take the harp in hand,
Propitious hymen bless the nuptial band! . . .
Rise Calliope, your tuneful notes prolong;
And all ye muses come and aid my song.
So long, alas! unus'd to tune my lays,
Except to sacred and almighty praise,
That quite unskill'd Hymenial rites to sing,
I crave the muse, enliv'ning aid to bring:
